Mary McGuirMarys Bio photoe joined One on One Mentoring and Mentoring Tucson’s Kids in September 2018 as the assistant to the Executive Director, Don McNeill, and fully took over as Executive Director of One on One Mentoring and Mentoring Tucson’s Kids on January 1, 2019. Mary worked for the past six years as the Social Work Faculty at the University of Arizona Pediatric Pulmonary Center, a Maternal and Child Health funded training grant, where she focused on training graduate social work students working on their internships and working with children, adults and families diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and severe asthma. She is a native Tucsonan who spent her undergraduate years at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania and returned for the warmer weather after completing her BA in Sociology/Anthropology. During her undergraduate years, she participated in a variety of activities ranging from sports of basketball, lacrosse and rugby to learning various dances of ballet, flamenco, and salsa and also enjoying reading, music and art. Her background includes over 17 years working with children, families, young adults and adults in social work in various capacities of providing assessments, crisis interventions, individual and group skills training, community resources, advocacy and general counseling. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2012 and has worked in several settings including group homes, behavioral health clinics and hospitals, and worked with schools and community agencies over the years in providing care for children, adolescents, families and adults.

Mary has mentored several adolescents and young adults over the years and continues to serve as a mentor through her church as a groups coach. She also leads a young professionals group to help mentor men and women in their personal and professional lives. Mary is passionate about helping children, adolescents and adults see their own value, discover their purpose and use their gifts and talents to serve others. She knows what a difference having caring life-giving mentor relationships makes in this process. She firmly believes in giving one hundred percent in all areas of life and having fun while doing it all. Mary is truly honored to work for an organization with a mission focused on providing a hope and a future for youth and impacting positive life change for youth,          families and community.
